How to Watch Your Videos on Your TV or Computer

Thank you for trusting me with your precious memories! Your video tapes have been converted into modern digital files and safely saved onto a USB memory stick.
Because it is a digital format, you will never have to worry about the quality wearing out. Below is a simple, step-by-step guide to help you plug it in and start watching.
Option 1: Watching on Your Television
Most modern flat-screen televisions made in the last ten years have a built-in slot for USB sticks.
- Locate the USB port: Look at the back or the side of your television screen. You will see a small, rectangular slot that matches the metal end of your USB stick. It is often labelled "USB".
- Plug it in: Gently slide the metal end of the USB stick into the slot. If it does not slide in easily, flip the stick over and try again.
- Switch your TV source: Take your television remote control and press the button labelled Source, Input, or AV.
- Select the USB: Use the arrow keys on your remote to scroll through the options on your screen until you see USB or Media Player, then press the OK or Select button.
- Play your videos: You will see a list of your video files on the screen. Use your remote arrows to highlight the video you want to watch and press Play.
Option 2: Watching on a Computer or Laptop
If you want to watch your videos on a computer, or if you want to make copies to share with your family, follow these steps.
- Find the slot: Look at the sides of your laptop or the front/back of your desktop computer tower for a rectangular USB slot
- Insert the stick: Gently push the USB stick into the slot until it clicks into place.
- Open the folder: A box will usually pop up on your screen asking what you would like to do. Click on Open folder to view files. (If nothing pops up, click on the "File Explorer" or "Finder" icon that looks like a little folder at the bottom of your screen, and look for "USB Drive" on the left-hand side).
-
Start watching: Double-click on any of the video files, and your computer will automatically open its media player and begin playing your film.
Note: If your computer struggles to play the video or you do not have a video player installed, we recommend downloading VLC Media Player. It is a completely free, safe, and very popular program that can easily play any video file format.
